How do monkeys protect themselves from tigers?

Monkeys use several smart tactics to protect themselves from predators like tigers. Here’s how they do it:

🛡️ 1. Living in Groups (Troops)

  • Many eyes: When one monkey sees danger, it gives an alarm call to warn the group.
  • Strength in numbers: Large groups make it harder for a predator to attack without being seen.

🌳 2. Staying in Trees

  • Tigers are strong but not great climbers. Monkeys:
    • Sleep and rest high in trees
    • Jump from branch to branch to escape quickly
    • Use their tails and limbs to move fast in the canopy

👀 3. Sharp Senses

  • Excellent eyesight and hearing help monkeys detect danger early.
  • Some species can smell predators nearby.

🗣️ 4. Alarm Calls

  • Monkeys use loud sounds or screams to:
    • Warn others in the group
    • Confuse or scare the predator
    • Signal the type of predator (ground or air)

🪨 5. Throwing Objects

  • Some monkeys throw branches, sticks, or fruit at threats from a safe height.

🧠 6. Learning & Memory

  • Monkeys remember danger zones or where predators were seen before.
  • Young monkeys learn from older ones how to avoid predators.
