Judge Frank Caprio, the beloved retired municipal judge of Providence, Rhode Island, lived a life defined by perseverance, humility, and kindness.
As a young boy, he worked as a dishwasher and shoe-shiner while attending public school at night. A star wrestler at Central High School, he graduated in 1953 and later earned his bachelor’s degree from Providence College in 1958.
Unable to afford law school right away, Frank devoted himself to teaching American government at Hope High School during the day while studying law at Suffolk University at night. Through determination and hard work, he earned his law degree, passed the bar, and began a career that would inspire the world.
On the bench, Judge Caprio became a symbol of compassion and fairness. His gentle approach to justice—often shown through his widely shared Caught in Providence courtroom moments—touched millions of lives far beyond Rhode Island.
Judge Frank Caprio passed away on August 20, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of empathy, integrity, and humanity that will be remembered for generations. ♥️
